Krisp vs Granola: bot-free notes, seat prices and meeting history

Last reviewed October 29, 2026

Quick answerBoth take notes from your computer's audio with no bot in the call. Granola is the free choice with its Basic plan; Krisp fits when you also want noise cancellation and a bot for calls nobody attends.

Krisp vs Granola: how each captures a meeting

Krisp and Granola both capture a call from your computer's audio with no bot joining, so the choice comes down to price, history and extras. Krisp says it works "directly at the audio level on your device", and Granola's pricing page lists "Bot-free, device-audio capture" on every plan.

Krisp adds an optional bot. From Core, the Krisp Bot joins Zoom, Google Meet or Microsoft Teams as a separate, visible participant once the host lets it in, and you can invite it as a calendar guest when nobody can attend. Noise cancellation is built into every Krisp plan. As read on October 29, 2026, Krisp Core is $16 per user a month billed monthly or $8 billed annually.

Seat prices and what each plan keeps

Granola prints one figure per plan with no monthly or annual basis, so its prices stand apart from Krisp's two billing bases. Krisp counts storage in gigabytes per user and Granola limits meeting history in days, so the two limits do not compare directly.

Notice and consent settings in each tool

Krisp has a setting named Notify others you're using Krisp, under Settings, Privacy & Consent, and its help center warns that some platforms may block chat messages or audio prompts. Krisp's Advanced plan lets admins enforce a recording mode.

Granola's pricing page lists a setting that lets people know you're using Granola. It is per user on Basic and Business and admin-enforceable on Enterprise, and Granola says to always ask permission before transcribing others. With no bot in the participant list, say aloud that notes are being taken.

Audio, transcripts and model training

Granola's pricing page says audio is deleted after transcription and that Granola trains on anonymized data. Basic lists an opt-out of model training at any time, and Enterprise adds a team-wide opt-out and org-wide auto-deletion periods.

Krisp keeps recordings in its cloud until you delete them, and deleted meetings stay in Trash for 30 days. Krisp says meeting data is not used to train its models.

Which team should pick Granola and which should pick Krisp

Pick Granola for a free Basic plan with bot-free capture, audio deleted after transcription and an opt-out from model training. Pick Krisp when you want notes plus noise cancellation and an optional bot for calls nobody attends.

Take a founder who runs in-person and hybrid meetings and wants notes from a laptop and a phone before inviting the rest of the team. The phone route Krisp documents is its mobile app, which records in-person meetings with a single tap, works offline and can send Krisp's bot to a Zoom, Google Meet or Microsoft Teams call. Granola names device-audio capture on every plan for the laptop.

Otter.ai's home page names desktop recording on Mac or Windows without bots, and Krisp vs Otter covers that side. The list of note takers without a bot has the other bot-free options. Krisp can be tried for 7 days without a card, as Krisp free trial explains; Granola's pricing page prints a free Basic plan and no trial wording.
